Aarhus Airport (IATA:AAR) is located 35 kms northeast of Aarhus, near Tirstrup on the east coast of Denmark's Jutland peninsula. There are daily flights to Copenhagen, also, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Brussels and London.
Aarhus Airport was founded in 1943 by German occupants, during WWII and built in the suburb of Stabrand, within the Tirstrup area, previously being referred to as Tirstrup Airport.
Over the years, the runways at Arhus Airport have been extended to meet the demands of larger passenger aircraft and the current terminal was inaugurated in 1981. Today, Arhus Airport is well connected to the city by the adjacent Route 15 (Fruerlundvej), and boasts recently improved facilities.
